While driving back home yesterday, I catch only the last part of the news over the radio telling that Muslim to stop practicing yoga for fear to deviate the beliefs and I was very disappointed! And this morning, in The Sun, here it goes “Lecturer, Prof Zakaria Stapa of UKM’s Islamic Studies Centre advised Muslims who have taken up yoga to STOP practicing it for fear that it could deviate their belief...”
WTF???!!!!
My simple question is “did he ever taken up any yoga class and see how we practice?”
Far from what I know, that anything READ : ANYTHING in the class may deviate the belief we are living with be it you are as a Muslim, Buddhist, Christian or any other possible religion.
I agree that yoga is being practiced originally from the ancient time of Hinduism for soul searching kind of activities. BUT, people out there who hardly know how the yoga practice is being conducted, err..please stop this? Could you please? Mr lecturer? Please put in details what are the factors or any part of the yoga that make you believe that the practice may deviate our beliefs from our beautiful religion?
I’m nobody to argue about this, I’m not a religion person nor I’m a truly yoga practitioner, but I love yoga, I attend yoga classes and I admire the flexibility of my yoga instructor in turning their body into pretzel…nothing more than that. And for some reason yoga teaches me to stay focus, calm and relax my mind, body & soul…. (so you figure why I am so emotionally imbalance now…*wink*)
I really wanna shout this out!
Huh! Mr beautiful mind, please spare some of your time for me to talk about this with you….I think I just can talk about this with you…!
*I just can’t wait what will be my favorite Yoga Instructor respond towards this news…sigh!* (she already wrote her heart out)
